In this day & age it's awfully hard not
to root for a fireman, all the more so a
fireman from Brooklyn, and so it was that
millions of Survivor diehards found
themselves pulling for Tom Westman to win in
Palau. And win he did, in the most
lopsided jury vote in show history, after
having guided his tribe to the most
dominating challenges performance in show
history as well.
The fireman's careful strategy and unwavering
determination at every turn, ultimately made
him the most deserving castaway in Palau to
win Mark Burnett's million-dollar grand
prize and with it the title of 'Sole
Survivor'.
Not since Colby
Donaldson in the Outback had a castaway been
as difficult to beat as Tom, and we mean in
all aspects of the game. The New
Yorker wore the individual immunity necklace
so often that a casual observer might've
mistaken it for a gaudy oversized tattoo
around his neck. But the greatest
compliment was paid by a competitor, Bobby
Jon Drinkard, who said, "Tom's a man, and a
man among men." How very true indeed.
